Hi everyone. Welcome to the many new subscribers.
I’m noticing that there isn’t as much news lately that I want to include. I’m not sure why that is. Maybe the real news is weird enough. Or, I suspect my tolerance for promoting what others think is “weird news” is almost completely gone. It’s simply not cool to exploit stories of human mistakes and suffering, promote insane conspiracy ideas, ridiculous clickbait, or exaggerated eyewitness claims. I’m also not impressed by most ghost, monster or UFO “evidence”. But, occasionally, these types of stories give us a glimpse into current social beliefs. Let’s see what I’ve been able to scrounge up this week worth talking about.
Annoying Irish hum
Omagh in Northern Ireland has a hum. Many towns around the globe report annoying “hums” that irritate and disturb some people, while others remain unbothered. As someone who is sensitive to low-frequency sounds, I sympathize. The world is very noisy these days, with industrial sounds going on all night. Unfortunately, such waves can travel very long distances and can sound different inside a structure than outside, making them difficult to pinpoint regarding location and source. More imaginative opinions attribute the hums to non-human causes related to earth changes or UFOs. But the reality is, we run machinery at all hours and it’s creating noise pollution everywhere. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-67410171
Mystery boom appears to be meteor but media gets it wrong
On the evening of Monday, November 13, a flash and boom disturbed residents of Beltrami County, Minnesota, near Bemidji. Around 6:40 PM, many residents felt a boom and some saw a flash. It was also confirmed via security cameras. But what was it? Well, the media really messed this one up, as usual. The Bemidji Regional Airport shared a video from their surveillance camera that showed a bright “light” streaking through the frame from the direction of the city. This video was clearly not a meteor or anything large that could be related to the boom. It didn’t even match the timing. Odds are it was an insect. Yet, this video was given to NASA and, of course, they said it wasn’t a meteor. It appears that local news outlets translated this to mean the boom was related to a meteor. But that does not follow. The bright flash and boom pattern sounds very much like a meteor explosion. Witnesses in an approximate 50-mile area reported seeing the flash and the noise was heard over an even larger area, but the police found no damage. While it’s unclear what happened here, odds are it was nothing unusual. That does not stop the convoluted stories saying that it was “mysterious”. I keep checking to see if I could find an update and, seven days later, there is nothing. I suspect that literally means they found nothing of interest in this story. However, without a conclusive finish to the story, people will remember it as an anomaly. That’s how things go these days, unfortunately. Maybe we need to be less impressed by such claims overall. https://lptv.org/mystery-remains-surrounding-bright-light-loud-boom-in-bemidji/ and https://www.kare11.com/article/news/local/beltrami-county-meteor-nymore-minnesota/89-58cdf410-e512-49ba-901f-6bffd610f9c6
Perpetually-mistaken Harvard UFO proponent Avi Loeb suggests UFOs might be using “advanced technologies near Earth” (Sorry, but he is just a ridiculous person.) He knows these things are meteors that explode and create the mystery sounds, however he is making a career out of being a “UAP expert” from Harvard so he has to be dramatic about it. What an embarrassment. https://avi-loeb.medium.com/mystery-sound-of-an-unidentified-anomalous-phenomenon-09d1cb461cd2
Authorities need to get a grip over UFO hype
A UFO stopped air traffic for several hours at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal, India. The lighted object was seen by ground personnel. But, as reported, it was “small” and “not seen thereafter”. The images are simply a dot of light in the sky. It would appear the object was white, maybe a balloon, lit by the sun. Incredibly, two fighter jets were mobilized. Guess what they found? Nothing. Society is now warped by this ridiculous tizzy about UFOs. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/105340810.cms
Witch bottles appearing in Texas
Witch bottles have been known from the UK for centuries. They are bottles filled with the urine and other items from a bewitched person and then buried to thwart a witch’s spell. The superstitious practice continues today as some people have thrown bottles into the sea to try to rid themselves of a supposed curse. The Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies is collecting “spell” bottles found on the Gulf shores. They believe some might come from Haiti, judging by the types of bottles, but the origin is unclear since there may be no discerning marks to indicate their origin. The bottles are not opened. Some bottles that wash up contain messages instead of cursed essences. https://www.star-telegram.com/news/state/texas/article281997308.html
